Rehearsal Night 1

So, J9 and I just got back from Convention Hall. Wow. Well, maybe not "Wow," but damn, what a fun show tonight. Understand that this actually is a rehearsal, and songs are going to be changed around, rearranged, or maybe dropped altogether. Who knows? But the setlist we got tonight was a great mix of new, hits, deep album cuts and some hidden gems. He played for just over two hours, but I expect that to change when the tour begins. Here's what was played(hide your eyes now if you don't want to know!!!):

Radio Nowhere
No Surrender
Gypsy Biker
Empty Sky
Something In The Night
Girls In Their Summer Clothes
Night
The Promised Land
Livin' In The Future
Devil's Arcade
Candy's Room
She's The One
Lonesome Day
My Hometown
The Rising
Last To Die
Long Walk Home

Encore:
Thundercrack
Born To Run
Darlington County
The American Land

Awfully tired now, so I'm off to bed. I'll elaborate more tomorrow morning.

Nope, no Thunder Road....not yet. Perhaps MB will get lucky and get to hear it tonight.

Hear's my additional thoughts on the show last night:

- Opening of the show surprised me a bit. Always expecting that 5-6 song barrage of hard charging rockers, which ended up being only three songs before mellowing it out a bit.
- Great guitar duel between Bruce and Steve at the end of Gypsy B(M)iker.
- Bruce introed "Livin' In The Future" by going into a short political tirade about wiretapping and such, and didn't give me the party feel that I thought this song would. Surprising.
- "Girls In Their Summer Clothes" works really, REALLY well in a live setting. A pleasant surprise.
- No band intos. Probably will when the real tour starts, but not found last night.
- J9 sat next to the two most unenthusiastic people ever to be found at a Bruce show. Motionless and stagnant, we're still wondering if they have the muscle power to make their eyes blink.
- Darlington County could be the new Ramrod. Great, GREAT encore song that had the place really moving.
- During American Land, Danny and Roy came down to the center stage to play their dueling accordions. It was nice to see them get some out-from-behind-the-keys stage time. Even though it was being performed E-Street style, it still sounded Seeger Session-esque.
- Candy's Room, directly into She's The One? Awesome. Simply awesome.

That's it. Got to leave something to everyone's imaginiation. :-)

I would have liked to have seen more classic stuff AKA Born to Run era since it's 32 years old :-)

ok people I'm OUT.... Take my money!!!!! I'm sitting here mind my own business when I get an email that I have a private message from someone on my St. John travel board so I go check it. And BOOM there it is last night's full set list! I'm not safe anywhere!
So that being said I then had to poke around for some reviews. Basically what I read else where was the boys were good but not quite in tour shape. And I read that Living in the Future was a train wreck. LOL! Also read some other little nibbles here and there, some good some not so much.
An interesting beginning.

By the way, who is J9 and what have you down with my little Janine!? :)

I think he sabotaged Livin in the Future with the intro. He talked about the song being about thing we never thought could happen here, torture, homeland spying, illegal wiretapping, etc. Which is true enough but people don't want to hear it. I’m not about to get into a philosophical debate just my $.02.

oh brother! here we go :)

The dark under side of the song comes out early! And people go - you mean it's not a dance song????? HA
It's got a good beat and you can dance to it!

How was Devil's Arcade?

Has Bruce been listening to the Smiths? Writing these depressing songs that you tap your foot and bop your head to? Is this Girlfriend In A Coma all over again?
