Just spoke with my boss(not THE Boss), who was at the show. He loved it, thought it was one of the top 5 Bruce shows he's ever seen(says he's seen close to 200)but did have a couple, I wouldn't say complaints, but reservations:
1. As usual, the lack of air conditioning in the Basie made the intermission very worthwhile. All were allowed to leave the building during it. But as most of us can attest to, the Basie can be very uncomfortable due to the heat. And with a wall-to-wall packed house like last night's, almost unbearable.
2. Having the two albums played in their entirety and in the same order lessened the anticipation for certain songs. Knowing exactly which songs were coming next kinda cheapened the thrill a bit.
Still, he said it was worth every penny(he spent $1,500 and was center orchestra, 20 rows back) and would do it again in a heartbeat. Said the encore was killer, and that Pender's solo during "Meeting Across The River" was incredible. Laughed his ass off when they blew the intro to "Badlands." I wondered how that could possibly happen, given they've played it on what, every tour going back to Darkness? But then again, it hasn't been played as an opener in some time, so I guess it's understandable.
