But for those who can't get there during the day, I just posted my review of the new record. Here it is.......

drum roll please.......I know this is what you all have been waiting for. Here's my take after spinning this a few times and watching the DVD.


Outlaw Pete - people keep calling this "epic". If by epic they mean long then ok. Pete (Di Sturco that is) mentioned something about part of it sounding like Incident at some point. I don't hear that but really I get bored with this a drift away and I'm in another time zone by the time it's over.

My Lucky Day - while lyrically weak I like this one. A good rocker. I dig that.

Working on a Dream - Bruce Springsteen NEVER whistle on a record again. Ever. Like never. Didn't like this one when he was stumping and still don't care for it. It's the "Living in the Future" of this record. AKA a bathroom break.

Q of the S - you mean to tell me he played this for Steve and Steve didn't fall on the floor laughing? PLEASE NEVER PLAY THIS LIVE!

What Love Can Do - excellent straight forward rocker. We can't change the world but that's ok because my love will not let you down, so to speak.

This Life - it's that GITSC voice which I don't love. I know that "Girls" was really popular last time out with many folks but not me. Actually live the only time I really enjoyed it was in Giants Stadium. It seemed to fit there some how. I know I'm in the minority on that one but I'm ok out here on my own. This Life .. to fluffy for me. I'll pass on this one.

Good Eye - the bullet mic lives. I like it here. I liked it on Reason to Believe last time out. But I think after this i'm totally over it. He can retire the bullet mic now. Thank you.

Tomorrow Never Knows - the lead in to the country cross over record of his future. What's that thing called that you pull back and let it vibrate? Like a saw kinda thing? That's what I hear. I don't feel one way or the other about this song. It just is.

Life Itself - I liked this one from the first spin. Good guitar work that could really come to life in a live setting.

Kingdom of Days - for me this one is the highlight yet I don't like the sound of it if that makes any sense. Totally overlayed with junk it doesn't need. Watch the dvd - Roy plays his heart out on this song and frankly I can't hear him on the record. Lyrically beautiful - a loving tribute to one's better half at the best time of their lives. Not bad.

Surprise, Surprise - all I can think of is that dweeb from Andy Griffith or something. Well surprise surprise surprise. I know what the song is trying to be but this isn't the 60's and Bruce isn't the Byrds. It doesn't work for me.

The Last Carnival - what do you have to say about it? Listen to the song, watch the video .... if you aren't moved you're DEAD!

I will forego comment on the Bonus tracks other than to say I love them both but that's a whole other chapter and some times I just dont' get bonus tracks. The real album ends then a BIG pause and OH here's another thing. Whatever. Glad to have the tunes and btw Bruce got screwed out of an Oscar! Hahahahahaha

Springsteen fans who received Activision's best-selling videogame Guitar Hero: World Tour under their trees will soon receive a post-holiday gift from Bruce: the songs "Born To Run" and "My Lucky Day" will be available as free downloads for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the game from January 27 through February 4. After that time, the songs presumably will remain available for download at the standard cost of $2 per song. (Here's hoping these songs will also be made available for Rock Band, also by Guitar Hero creators Harmonix, so that fans can play Let’s-break-up-the-band-so-I-can-be-free-to-record-solo-and-with-other-musicians-but-later-reunite-for-a-stunning-second-phase.) will take the field for the Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show.
Where will you be?On February 1, 2009 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show in Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium. We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be part of the on-field audience for the show.

The details
We'll be registering all participants as members of a group. Groups can be formal organizations such as school groups, fan clubs & community organizations, or something more informal like a group of friends. There are only a few important criteria that each group must meet.

Groups must have at least 10 members
All group members must be at least 16 years old
Each group must have a leader who is at least 21 years old
All group leaders & members must be present and participate during all rehearsals
There are also some other important things you'll want to know before deciding to sign-up.

A word about group leaders
It's important that group leaders understand what they are signing up for.

Group leaders will participate in the show as part of their group, and be responsible for making sure every member of their group is in the right place at the right time. The show staff will rely on leaders to make sure their group members are informed & following the rules. Group members will rely on leaders for rehearsal information and instructions from the show staff.

Group leaders will also be in charge of signing up their group in our online registration system, and keeping group information up-to-date.

The process
Registration alone does not guarantee that you're group will be chosen to participate.

Here's how it will go:

Group leaders will register online providing the name, birth date, phone number and emergency contact of each member of their group.
Our casting representatives will review each registration
Group leaders will be informed via email if their group has been selected to participate
The email from our casting representatives will contain specific information for the group leader, and let them know where to meet for the orientation meeting.

And finally...
Alright, so you've read through the entire site. You're sure that all your group members are available for the entirety of every rehearsal. You've gathered the full name, phone number, birth date, and emergency contact for each member of your group. Great!

Funny......

I listened to My Lucky Day a few times on Monday but didn't not download from Amazon and have not listened to it since. Very odd for me. It sounds good but overall it is lacking lyrically.
I suppose I am a lyric whore :)
